Learn how to SAFELY hold your breath over 3 minutes and swim deeper than 60′ below the surface in a weekend! Call us for info on the next freediving level 1 class, on August 14th-15th.
Freediving, also known as apnea or breath-hold diving, is one of the fastest growing sports in the world! It allows divers to explore the beauty of the underwater world on one breath the way nature intended, without the encumbrance of or investment in expensive equipment. Almost anyone can learn to freedive and it’s a great activity for promoting physical fitness and stamina. It’s no wonder this fun and exciting sport continues to gain popularity worldwide.
What many don’t know is that freediving is a skill based sport. We can teach you in a matter of days what could take years of extensive experience. FII has identified the core skills needed for effective freediving which are implemented into our curriculum offering students the most effective learning experience enabling them to freedive confidently and safely. Our curriculum has proven results, whether interested in swimming on the reef, freediving with dolphins, mastering the art of spearfishing or maybe even interested in the competitive aspects, FII has a course that will have you freediving like a pro in no time!
Level 1 Freediver Course
The Level 1 course is an introduction to the fundamental techniques of the FII education system. This highly effective 1.5 day course covers everything from safety & problem management, breathing techniques & equipment selection to correct freediving methods for gradual depth progression. For many, this is the point of entry into FII’s formal freediving education system and provides divers with a solid foundation to freedive confidently and safely up to depths of 66 feet/20 meters with breathholds up to 3 minutes. For divers already achieving these depths, it will provide an enhanced understanding of the sport and modern new techniques in order to be doing this more effectively and most importantly, more safely. This program includes academic presentations, confined water training and one open water session.
